Day One...

the sun setting on day one of the roof project.....  Yusuf, Pete, and Jon spent most of the afternoon/evening putting the osb on the roof after we tore off the shingles, but no pics of that.  Day one: tore off old shingles on roof (with several people going through the roof - falling may sound overdramatic, but it had to be scary taking a step and going right through the boards), took off siding on the original back part of the house, started to put the eaves/roof overhang back on the front of the house, and the osb sheathing went up on most of the roof.

next we took off the siding on the back/top (original) part of the house.  and my pics are out of order, but it's taking too long to upload to fix it right now, the last pic is how it used to look, then the middle view is after we took off the siding and the boards underneath...  again, thanks to the hard work of Jon, Pete and Nick!

so, this is the beginning of the removal of the roof...

April 4th was the first day of tearing off the roof. etc.  look how happy and optimistic everyone looks!  a special thanks to our family and neighbors!
more catching up to do, today we put up more tyvek....  we have one side left to go....  but back to the work that we've done over the past several weeks...

pull down attic stairs

i'm going back a few weeks, but it's just to catch up on what we've done lately.  two weeks ago, M's sister and bro-in-law spent their "vacation" here working on the house.  the weekend before their arrival, we completed a little project installing pull down attic stairs.

winter

let me sum up what we did on the house over the winter in one word: nothing.  it's a good thing it's spring now...
