Siding Before and After

Siding!

We put the first bit of siding on today!  Very exciting news, and I'm sure our neighbors are tired of seeing it either ugly green or it's lovely shade of Tyvek that it's been for several weeks now.

Trim

For the last several weeks my coworkers have asked me "what are you working on now?"  The answer for the last several weeks has been "trim."  I can't wait to start giving a different answer, and to be completely honest, M has done most to all of the work for this one.  We took off the storm windows and pulled off the wood trim on the windows, to replace it with hardiplank trim.  We had a hard time finding info on the hardiplank trim, and couldn't seem to find many people that used it.  And, now we think we know why.  It's heavy and a &%$#* to cut.  The trim wood on many of our windows was so damaged from rot, so we felt replacing it was the best option.   This is the kind of project that seems to keep going and going.

Afterwards

While working on the house, Rox gives us her worried look.  Maybe she knows something we don't.  And here's Moe cleaning himself...or cutting his hair, I'm not sure...

K+T

this was the wiring for the fan in one of the front rooms before we removed it.

Electrical

To be brief, we pulled out the knob and tube wiring for the overhead lights and ran new romex in the attic for the switches and lights.  Then we put in some fixtures that were donated to our cause...

Let there be light!

We now have an overhead light in the bathroom!  No more hanging utility work light from the shower rod.

Moe's X-mas Present in May

M looks like a little kid at x-mas opening his presents....  What did he get?  His very own electrician tool set and some Romex!

German Siding

While we took off the f-a-b-u-l-o-u-s wood paneling in the back (now interior) part of the house, we uncovered what must have been the original siding of the house.  we are going to keep the piece of german siding intact where it's at, and hopefully use it as the backdrop to our bed in the bedroom.

take 2

So, this time Moises, Angel and I put up the Tyvek.  A little better this time around...
